MFT Sketch Challenge 545 - With Graditude

Hello and thanks for stopping by.  I'm back with a card for the current MFT Sketch Challenge.

I'm working on cards for Cards for Soldiers, a Facebook group that collects and sends cards to our US Troops overseas.  They are asking for thank you cards for Veteran's Day.  The inside of the cards will have a hand-written note of gratitude for their service to our country and the sacrifices they and their family make.

I used lots of MFT die cuts, and just one sentiment stamp.  All of the supplies are listed below.

Have a great day!

MFT Sketch Challenge 542 - All Systems Are Go for a Happy Birthday

This week's MFT Sketch Challenge is a layout with three circles vertically arranged on the left side of the panel.

I recently took advantage of another great MFT sale and bought the Best Friends in the Universe stamp and die set.  I think the cute astronauts with their round helmets are perfect for the sketch without using circle cutouts.

Ink blending is definitely not my strong suit, but I always admire the beautiful galaxy backgrounds that I see other card makers create.  Using the few Distress Ink colors that I have on hand, I blended the inks, used a paintbrush to add metallic silver and white craft paint splatters, and attached some silver glitter card stock stars to it.

All of the images are colored with Copic markers, and I added clear Wink of Stella to the planets for a bit of shimmer.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

MFT Outside the Box Floral Challenge - You've Got Mail

Hello, and thanks for stopping by to take a closer look at my entry for the current MFT Outside the Box Challenge. This month we are asked to create a floral theme box card.

I used the Outside the Box Level Up die set with the Low Profile Add-On dies for my card.  The You've Got Mail and A Tweet Hello sets are both retired.  I love the cute You've Got Mail set.  Who doesn't like to get a surprise piece of happy mail in their mailbox?

I'm going to mail this via the Because Kindness Facebook group to an 11-year old girl who has multiple health challenges.  I hope it makes her smile.

Have a great day, and I hope you'll consider brightening someone else's day with some good, old fashioned snail mail too.

MFT Color Challenge - Another Year Wiser

The current MFT Color Challenge features Candied Yam, Moroccan Spice, Prickly Pear and Jalapeno Popper.  Once again I don't have any of those new MFT colors, so I used the MFT card stock I do have on hand that appear similar in color.

I think the retired I'm Owl Yours stamp and die set is one of the first that I bought from MFT.  I've used it so many times for birthday cards.  The inside of my card is stamped with another sentiment in the set, I hope your birthday is a hoot.

This card is being donated to Cards for Soldiers.  You can read about that organization in my previous post.

All of the MFT supplies are listed below.  Thanks for stopping by, and I hope your day is a hoot!

MFT Sketch Challenge 541 - Happy Birthday from Me to You

Hello, and thanks for stopping by to take a look at my card for the current MFT Sketch Challenge.

I'm about to mail off a box of cards to Cards for Soldiers, a terrific Facebook organization that sends encouragement and thank you cards to our deployed US troops, or provides cards for the troops to mail home to their loved ones.   I have 55 cards for the troops to mail home including wedding, anniversary, baby, congratulations, miss you and thinking of you cards for adults, and birthday and thinking of you cards for kids.  This is my first donation to this organization.

My interpretation of the sketch is very literal.  I recently bought the Mice Day to Celebrate stamp and die set.  The images are just so cute!  I have three different birthday cards featuring the cute little mice ready to donate.

All of the MFT supplies are listed below.  Have a very mice day!

MFT Color Challenge 164 - It's Your Birthday

Today I have a card for the current MFT Color Challenge.  The colors for the challenge are Poppin' Pink, Caribbean Blue, Jalapeno Popper and Vintage Timber, all new MFT colors.  I don't have any of those colors on hand, so I used similar MFT colors for my card.  I found the color combination very challenging and started three different card designs before settling on the one below, but I guess that's the point of a challenge!

I'm getting ready to donate another batch of cards and need a few more kid's birthday cards.  I always like to include at least one card with the retired MFT Monster Sized images.  They are so cute and always make a fun card that I hope will make the child smile.

The little monsters are colored with Copic markers.  I cut 1/4-inch strips of card stock for the background piece.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I appreciate it!

MFT Sketch Challenge 540 - Wishing You the Happiest Birthday Ever

Hello, and thanks for stopping by to take a closer look at my card for the current MFT Sketch Challenge.

I used Distress Oxide inks and the MFT Mini Cloud Edges stencil to make four rows of color.  I haven't used the color combination of Twisted Citron, Shaded Lilac, Dried Marigold and Scattered Straw before, but I really like how it turned out. I used Copic markers to color the two Fairy Tale unicorns.  Some clear Wink of Stella on the unicorns and a few clear confetti bits, and my card was done.

All of the MFT supplies are listed below.  Have a great day!

MFT Sketch Challenge 538 - Birthday Wishes

It's been a while since I've colored a floral panel, so I decided to use the MFT Harmonious Hibiscus stamp and my Copic markers for this week's MFT Sketch Challenge.

I stamped the image with MFT Natural Hybrid Ink and attempted a no-line coloring technique.  I definitely need more practice!  I also colored all the white space with a Copic marker, B00 Frost Blue, for the first time.  I didn't get the color as even as I would have liked, but I think the flowers look pretty with the blue background.  Since I only needed a circle focal point for my card, I was able to use the remainder of the 6x6 panel to make another card.

All of the MFT supplies are listed below.  Have a great day, and thanks for stopping by.

MFT Supplies:
Natural Hybrid Ink Pad
Harmonious Hibiscus Background stamp
Bitty Birthday Wishes sentiment stamp
Blueprints 27 sentiment strip die

MFT Color Challenge 163 - Hip Hip Hooray

After missing a couple of the MFT weekly Sketch Challenges, I'm back with a card for the current Color Challenge.

The colors for the challenge are Princess Pink, Poppin' Pink, Prickly Pear, all from the new collection of MFT colors, and Gravel Gray.  I used the retired Razzle Berry and Sour Apple MFT card stock, both look close to the new colors.

I hadn't used the retired MFT Toad-ally Awesome stamp set for quite a while, and thought it would be perfect for the green element of the challenge.  I've always loved pink and green combos.  My toad has some simple Copic coloring, and I used heavyweight vellum for the balloon.  All of the MFT supplies are listed below.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope your day has lots of joy!

MFT Color Challenge 161 - You're Amazing

The current MFT Color Challenge features four of MFT's recently released new colors,  Fire Coral, Butterscotch, Caribbean Sea and Eiffel Tower.  Instead a Fire Coral, which has an orange-pink tone, I used Poppy, a more intense orange-red.  The other three colors I used are very similar to the newly released colors.

I made a mini slimline encouragement card for the Bearly Arts Cards for Cubs card drive.  You can read about the card drive  here.

The MFT Horizontal Skinny Stripes die is a great size for a mini slimline card background piece.  I thought it would be a good way to incorporate the bold colors without taking away from the focal point image, Super Boy.  I colored the Super Boy with Copic markers and popped him up with foam tape for some added dimension.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you have an amazing day!

All of the MFT supplies are listed below.

This was a really fun project that I'm donating to the Bearly Arts Cards for Cubs card drive.  You can read about the card drive  here.  I hope the cute critters make a young foster child smile.

MFT Sketch Challenge 530 - You Are Mermazing

The current MFT Stamps Sketch Challenge prompt is a slimline shape card with a circle focal point.  I made a mini slimline card measuring 6" x 3.5".

Once again I used a retired MFT set, Mermazing.  Most of my MFT cards feature retired sets as I haven't been shopping the new releases much in spite of how absolutely temping it is.  MFT is one of  my favorite stamp company's, especially for kids cards and I use their card stock almost exclusively.

The mermaid images are so sweet and easy to color with Copic markers.  I used Distress inks and the Radiating Days stencil for the background.  All of the MFT supplies are listed below.

Thanks for stopping by and have a mermazing day!

MFT Supplies:
Mermazing stamps and dies
Radiating Rays stencil
Slanted Sentiment Strips die

MFT Stamps Color Challenge 160 - You've Got Mail

The current MFT Color Challenge features Kraft, Milk Chocolate, Ripe Raspberry and Tropical Teal.

I'm working on thinking of you and birthday cards for the Bearly Arts Cards for Cubs card drive.  You can read about the card drive  here.    I had been thinking that the MFT You've Got Mail set would be a good one to use for a thinking of you card, so I got it out for this color challenge.

The Resources section on the MFT web site has a Copic  Color Matches chart that I always use for the Color Challenges.  It's a great way to keep your color choices consistent with the challenge prompts.  I also used Chocolate Brown and Tropical Teal card stock on the card.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

New Baby Box Card

Hello.  Today I have a little box card for our new great-niece, Willa Grace.  Willa joins her sisters, twins Kylie and Kolbie.

I used the MFT Outside the Box Level Up and Low Profile Add-On dies to make the box.  The MFT Grassy Hills dies were used for the shelves.

Spun Sugar Distress Ink was blended on white card stock and splattered with water for the background piece.  I love my new Honey Bee Stamps Bee Narrow Uppercase Alpha dies that I used for her name.

The three sweet deer are from the MFT Stamps So Very Fawned of You.  I did some quick and light coloring on them with Copic markers.

All of the MFT supplies are listed below.  Thanks so much for stopping by to take a look at my box card.

Hello, and thanks for stopping by to take a closer look at my card for the current MFT Sketch Challenge.

I'm working on cards for a new to me card drive, Bearly Art's Cards for Cubs, handmade cards for foster kids.  You can read about the card drive here.

I used the retired MFT maze components on my card.  I think they make a fun interactive card for kids, and they are quick and easy to put together.  I flipped the sketch so the focal point circle is on the upper left side so the sentiment would fit on the bottom of the card.

All of the MFT supplies are listed below.  Have an amazing day!

MFT Outside the Box Challenge - Love is in the Air

Little box cards are among my favorite card making projects.  I love personalizing them specifically for the recipients.

I've been making box cards for a few years using another company's dies, but the MFT Level Up and Low Profile Add-On die sets are game changers.  I love the "shelf" dies for grass, clouds, waves and snow too.  So far I  have the Grassy Hills and Cloud dies, but the Waves and Snow Drifts are on my wish list as well.

The theme for the current MFT Outside the Box Challenge is Love is in the Air.  We have two couples in our family celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary this year, so I made a box card for the couple whose anniversary is next month.

I used a retired MFT set, Splendid Swans.  Some simple coloring with Copic markers, a background piece using the vine stamp, a few hearts, and my card was complete.

All of the MFT supplies are listed below.  Thanks so much for stopping by to take a closer look at my card, and have a lovely day!

MFT Sketch Challenge 528 - Enjoy

Today I have a card for the current MFT Sketch Challenge featuring the retired MFT Chinese Take Out dies and Good Fortune stamp sets.

To create a tone on tone effect on the black background piece, I used the pagoda stamp and Versamark ink heat set with clear embossing powder.  It definitely added some interest without taking away from the focal image.  The third picture below taken at an angle  shows part of the tone on tone background.

The chop sticks were die cut with wood grain specialty paper and then cut  mid-point so I could extend the length of them.  I popped up the takeout container with foam tape leaving a channel of open space for the fortune to slide in to.

Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy your day!

MFT Supplies:
Chinese Take Out dies
Good Fortune stamps
A2 Rectangle STAX die
Cherry Crisp ink
Cherry Crisp, Black Licorice and Silver Shine card stock
