MFT Color Challenge 90 - Monster Love

My quest to get Mother's Day cards done continues.  I donate the cards to Send A Smile 4 Kids and the deadline to get them in the mail is rapidly approaching.

This month's MFT color challenge is a pretty combination of colors:  Cement Gray, Peach Bellini, Coral Crush and Blue Breeze.

I used the "M" in the SMILE die and the cute Monster-Sized stamps and dies for the "O" to spell out MOM.  The "M" was a little taller than I wanted, so I just snipped about 1/4" off the top of it.  I stamped the monster with blue ink to make a subtle background pattern.

I think it's a fun card for a little child to give to their Mom, so I made four in different color combinations.  The Send A Smile 4 Kids volunteer that I send my cards to distributes them to four pediatric hospitals in the Northeast, so she will have one for each of the hospitals.  That way no two children get an identical card.

Thanks for taking a look, and I hope your day is filled with monster-sized love!

AAA Cards CAS Game #111 - Use Only One Third

My first AAA Cards challenge entry!  I've been following AAA Cards challenges for a long time, always admiring the beautiful CAS cards created and decided to jump in this time.

I donate most of the cards I make to a few different organizations.  I've been working on Mother's Day cards for Send A Smile 4 Kids, an organization that supports children's hospitals scattered around the country with handmade cards for pediatric inpatients.  Sometimes the cards are for the kids, but for Mother's Day and Father's Day, we make cards for the kids to give to their loved ones.  I send my cards to a very kind woman in Pennsylvania, and she forwards them to four hospitals in the Northeast.

On to my card.  It's simple, but it was a challenge for me to come up with a design limited to one third of the card.  I used the pretty Mondo Hydrangea stamp and the Hinged Alpha letter dies, both by Essentials by Ellen, and created a peek-a-boo of matching flowers behind the hinged letters.  The flowers were colored with Zig markers on watercolor paper.  A few 4mm sequins by Pretty Pink Posh finished off my card.

Thanks so much for taking a look at my first AAA challenge entry, I appreciate it!

Pop-Up Box Card for a Sweet Baby Boy

Now this is my kind of a laundry day!  I love making these little box cards, and baby cards are always especially fun.

Lawn Fawn's Scalloped Box Card Pop-Up die really makes quick work of getting the box ready to decorate.  The Bundle of Baby Clothes dies by MFT Stamps  have lots of options for creating an adorable baby wardrobe.  I added some stripes to the t-shirts and shortalls so they'd have more details.  I used a MFT Stamps Cloud stencil and Distress Ink to add interest on the back panel behind the clotheslines.  The tiny clothes pins are die cut out of wood paper from my stash.   Lots of die cutting, and lots of gluing tiny pieces made this project a bit time consuming, but I love how it turned out.

My very dear friend needed a boy baby shower card, and I was pleased to give her this one.
Thanks for taking a look at this fun project!

MFT Sketch Challenge 377 - Celebrate Mom

With all my Easter cards finished, for the past couple of weeks I've been working on Mother's Day cards to donate to Send A Smile For Kids.  I find that using challenges as a starting point is helpful.

For this card, I used the MFT Homespun Stitched Lines dies for the first time.  I like the subtle but interesting background that they provide.

Thanks for taking a look at my card!

MFT Sketch Challenge 376 - Mermazing Birthday

For this week's sketch I made a birthday card for an eight year old girl who loves mermaids.  I started off by stamping the Whimsical Waves Background stamp on watercolor paper in my MISTI.   I used  Blue Raspberry hybrid ink, then I stamped it again with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with WOW clear embossing powder.  Next I colored the waves with Zig markers and let the panel dry.

The mermaid, fish, turtle, shell and rock are colored with Copic markers.  I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment on the rock after I lightly colored it.  The fish are coated with Clear Wink of Stella, and the tutrle's shell has two layers of Glossy Accents on it.  I also used Glossy Accents to make tiny bubbles near the fish.  I used a clear glitter pen to make scales on the mermaid's tail.

I love these little mermaids, and I know the little girl I made the card for will love it too.  Thanks so much for taking a look, I appreciate it!

MFT Color Challenge 89 - Amazing Owls

For this month's Color Challenge I made another maze card.  I like to have these fun cards on hand and ready to send off to an older child in a FB group I belong to that supports chronically ill kids by sending happy mail and cheer to them.

I love the combination of colors:  Sour Apple, Orange Fizz, Daffodil and Berrylicious.  I had MFT card stock on hand for all the colors except Berrylicious, so I added blue to the owls with Copic markers.   I added some detail to the owls with a Micron Multiliner pen, something I've been doing for a while.  MFT just added some super cute owls with lots of details to their line, and I love that the new set includes a cute baby owl.  For now I'll stick with my set, but I'm sure I'll give in and order the new ones one day!

These Color Challenges have become favorites of mine as they force me to work with color combinations that I normally don't gravitate to.  Thanks for taking a look, and have an amazing day!

MFT Sketch Challenge 375 - You're Amazing

For this week's MFT Sketch Challenge I made an encouragement card for a special little girl.  The You're Super set is prefect for the brave and spunky girl.  The Super Girl is colored with Copic markers, but I decided to give her a white cape coated with Clear Wink of Stella.  I added the initial of the recipient's name to the chest of the girl, and it is also coated with Clear Wink of Stella.

Thanks very much for taking a look.  Have a super day!

MFT Sketch Challenge 374 - Grrreetings

For this week's sketch challenge I made a fun ''happy mail' card to send to a little boy in a FB group I belong to.  This time I'm sending a "Sibling Surprise" package of goodies to the brother of a chronically ill child.  It must be really hard for the siblings of sick kids too, so this group likes to reach out to them on occasion as well.

The  Monster Sized stamp set is so cute, and I love this little guy hanging from the mail box door.  For this picture, I addressed one of the tiny envelopes in the mailbox with a fictitious name and address, but I replaced it with an envelope with the little boy's name and address before I mailed it to him along with some goodies to play with.

Thanks very much for stopping by today!
