MFT Sketch Challenge 530 - You Are Mermazing

The current MFT Stamps Sketch Challenge prompt is a slimline shape card with a circle focal point.  I made a mini slimline card measuring 6" x 3.5".

Once again I used a retired MFT set, Mermazing.  Most of my MFT cards feature retired sets as I haven't been shopping the new releases much in spite of how absolutely temping it is.  MFT is one of  my favorite stamp company's, especially for kids cards and I use their card stock almost exclusively.

The mermaid images are so sweet and easy to color with Copic markers.  I used Distress inks and the Radiating Days stencil for the background.  All of the MFT supplies are listed below.

Thanks for stopping by and have a mermazing day!

MFT Stamps Color Challenge 160 - You've Got Mail

The current MFT Color Challenge features Kraft, Milk Chocolate, Ripe Raspberry and Tropical Teal.

I'm working on thinking of you and birthday cards for the Bearly Arts Cards for Cubs card drive.  You can read about the card drive  here.    I had been thinking that the MFT You've Got Mail set would be a good one to use for a thinking of you card, so I got it out for this color challenge.

The Resources section on the MFT web site has a Copic  Color Matches chart that I always use for the Color Challenges.  It's a great way to keep your color choices consistent with the challenge prompts.  I also used Chocolate Brown and Tropical Teal card stock on the card.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

New Baby Box Card

Hello.  Today I have a little box card for our new great-niece, Willa Grace.  Willa joins her sisters, twins Kylie and Kolbie.

I used the MFT Outside the Box Level Up and Low Profile Add-On dies to make the box.  The MFT Grassy Hills dies were used for the shelves.

Spun Sugar Distress Ink was blended on white card stock and splattered with water for the background piece.  I love my new Honey Bee Stamps Bee Narrow Uppercase Alpha dies that I used for her name.

The three sweet deer are from the MFT Stamps So Very Fawned of You.  I did some quick and light coloring on them with Copic markers.

All of the MFT supplies are listed below.  Thanks so much for stopping by to take a look at my box card.

MFT Sketch Challenge 529 - Have an A-maze-ing Birthday

Hello, and thanks for stopping by to take a closer look at my card for the current MFT Sketch Challenge.

I'm working on cards for a new to me card drive, Bearly Art's Cards for Cubs, handmade cards for foster kids.  You can read about the card drive here.

I used the retired MFT maze components on my card.  I think they make a fun interactive card for kids, and they are quick and easy to put together.  I flipped the sketch so the focal point circle is on the upper left side so the sentiment would fit on the bottom of the card.

All of the MFT supplies are listed below.  Have an amazing day!

MFT Outside the Box Challenge - Love is in the Air

Little box cards are among my favorite card making projects.  I love personalizing them specifically for the recipients.

I've been making box cards for a few years using another company's dies, but the MFT Level Up and Low Profile Add-On die sets are game changers.  I love the "shelf" dies for grass, clouds, waves and snow too.  So far I  have the Grassy Hills and Cloud dies, but the Waves and Snow Drifts are on my wish list as well.

The theme for the current MFT Outside the Box Challenge is Love is in the Air.  We have two couples in our family celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary this year, so I made a box card for the couple whose anniversary is next month.

I used a retired MFT set, Splendid Swans.  Some simple coloring with Copic markers, a background piece using the vine stamp, a few hearts, and my card was complete.

All of the MFT supplies are listed below.  Thanks so much for stopping by to take a closer look at my card, and have a lovely day!

MFT Sketch Challenge 528 - Enjoy

Today I have a card for the current MFT Sketch Challenge featuring the retired MFT Chinese Take Out dies and Good Fortune stamp sets.

To create a tone on tone effect on the black background piece, I used the pagoda stamp and Versamark ink heat set with clear embossing powder.  It definitely added some interest without taking away from the focal image.  The third picture below taken at an angle  shows part of the tone on tone background.

The chop sticks were die cut with wood grain specialty paper and then cut  mid-point so I could extend the length of them.  I popped up the takeout container with foam tape leaving a channel of open space for the fortune to slide in to.

Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy your day!

Good Fortune stamps

MFT Color Challenge 159 - Hip Hip Hooray

I'm back with another MFT Color Challenge card.  This time we are asked to used Lemon Chiffon, Sour Apple, Grapesicle and Gravel Gray.

Since I have all four of those card stock colors, I decided to make a card using each of them.  I cut random size strips of the card stock and then glued them to a piece of scrap paper.  Next I used the Hip Hip Hooray banner die to cut the background piece.

I have to say that initially I didn't like the look of the banner at all. The color combination didn't appeal to me.  But I kept going and by the time I added the remaining elements, I was pleased with the end result.  I think the vellum balloon helped a lot by softening the multi-color stripes on most of the banner. Yet another example of why I like these color challenges.  I'm pushed to make color combinations work that I normally wouldn't even consider.

All of the MFT supplies are listed below.  Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!
