MFT Sketch Challenge 521 - Sending Joy & Good Cheer

Hello.  Today I have a quick card for the current MFT Sketch Challenge.  I used the colors for the current MFT Color Challenge, but I plan to make another card to enter for it.

I used the cute Dashing By stamp and die for the focal point.  Since I was short on time, I just used patterned paper for the background and kept the card simple.  All of the images are colored with Copic markers.   A list of the MFT supplies is below.

Thanks for stopping by!

MFT Sketch 519 - Merry Everything

Hello, and thanks for stopping by.  Today I have a card for the current MFT Sketch Challenge.

When I saw this week's sketch, I knew exactly what I'd make.  Several years ago my sweet Dad had to replace the tail light on his Mercedes sports car. He wired-up the old tail light and now uses it as his Christmas tree.  He refers to it as the most expensive Christmas tree he's ever had :-).

I'm always inspired by my Dad's zest for life, even at 93-years of age.  He's always upbeat and positive, never complains, and does as much as he can for himself.  If it weren't for COVID, he'd still be traveling the world.  He's booked for a cruise down the Amazon River next year, it will be his second trip there, we shall see if he gets to go.  I wanted to make him a special Christmas card, and although it's a bit cutesy and juvenile, I know it will make him smile.

I used a shinny red card stock for the light and filled the shaker with red and clear embellishments.  Since he has a cute reindeer hand puppet laying across the top of his "tree" I added a little MFT Jingle All the Way reindeer to the card.

All of the MFT supplies are listed below.

MFT Sketch Challenge 518 - Merry Christmas

Today I have a simple card for the current MFT Sketch Challenge.  I needed two masculine Christmas cards for our gardeners.  The second card is slightly different, but the sketch was a good jumping point for both.

For my entry card, I followed the sketch literally except for the direction of the diagonal panel.  My card is a small 4-bar note card size (3.5" x 5"), just big enough to tuck a little Christmas cash in.

I used the Wonderful Woods stamp set and patterned paper from the Happy Trails Paper Pad.  Quick and easy!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day.

MFT Sketch Challenge 514 - Warm Wishes

I saw the prettiest Christmas card by LittleCraftyPill on Instagram. It's the inspiration for my card for the current MFT Sketch Challenge.  I'd post a link to her card if I knew how to link to IG from here (dinosaur, here ;-), but if you'd like to take a look at Amanda's beautiful card, it was posted on Monday, 11/03/2020, I think.

I used Burnished Gold (rose gold) Mirror card stock by Tonic Studios and MFT Silver Sparkle card stock for the layered snowflakes.  The Rock Candy Confetti sequins are by Trinity Stamps.  The card so pretty in person.  As we all know, it's hard to capture shimmer and sparkle on photos.

All of the MFT supplies are listed below.  Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a great day.

MFT Sketch Challenge 513 - You Make a Difference

I'm back with a card for the current MFT Sketch Challenge.  I made another card for Send A Smile 4 Kids, a volunteer organization that provides pediatric hospitals around the country with handmade cards.  Usually I make cards for the hospitalized kids, but today I have a thank you/appreciation card for a parent to give to a hospital staff member or friend that has been helpful during their child's hospital stay.

I used my MFT Harmonious Hibiscus Background stamp for the first time.  Five Copic markers, some gray card stock, a sentiment strip, and a few aquamarine gems and my card was done.  I certainly didn't get creative with my interpretation of the sketch, but it came together quickly.

All of the MFT supplies are listed below.  Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day.

MFT Supplies:
Harmonious Hibiscus Background stamp
All About You sentiment stamp
Slanted Sentiment Strips die
Gravel Gray and Black Licorice card stock

MFT Sketch Challenge 512 - Happy Birthday Shaker

I haven't made a shaker card for a while, and this week's MFT Sketch challenge was a good layout to do so.

The striped background piece was made from some 1/4-ich strips of MFT card stock that I had leftover from another card.

The MFT Happy Birthday Circle Frame is the focal point with a cute little Copic colored Monster Sized guy in the middle of the shaker. The shaker elements are a mixture of sequins and stars cut out of matching card stock,

I'll donate this card to Send A Smile 4 Kids, an organization that supports children in pediatric hospitals around the country.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Hello.  Today I have a quick birthday card for the current MFT Sketch Challenge.

For the background, I used a panel inked up with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink and the MFT Mini Cloud Edges stencil.  I decided not to cut it, and used circle die cut frame to highlight the focal point per the sketch instead.  The unicorn from the MFT Fairly Tale Friends stamp set is colored with Copic markers.

Wedding Box Card

Hello, and thanks for stopping by to take a look at the wedding box card that I made for our nephew and his bride.

Like so many other couples this year, Morgan and Drew's plans for a large, traditional wedding and reception had to be canceled due to the COVID outbreak.  They decided to have a very small, immediate family only, ceremony on their original wedding date in the beautiful city of Bend, Oregon, about a three hour drive from their hometown.  They are planning to celebrate with friends and family with another wedding next May.

On to my box card.  I used lots of products from several different suppliers.

Stamps and Dies:
Lawn Fawn:  Scalloped Box Card Pop-Up dies, and the sun from the Sun and Moon die set.

MFT Stamps:  Home Sweet Home dies, Magical Rainbow dies, and the cloud die from the Sweet Sloths set.  The house windows were coated with Glossy Accents, and the yellow pathway to the house was fussy cut.

Penguin Palace:  Sweet Ride stamps and dies for the car, bride and groom.  This was my first purchase from PP and the inspiration for my card.  The images were colored with Copic markers.  The windshield, mirrors and lights were coated with Glossy Accents.  The "just married" sign and trailing hearts were my addition to the car.

Simon Says Stamp:  All Seasons Tree die, and the Heart Breeze die was used for all of the tiny hearts.
I stacked and glued four of the trees together so it would be sturdy as the branches are easily bent otherwise.

Memory Box:  Resting Birds dies.  Three layers of the birds were die cut and glued together for some added dimension.

Paper and Card Stock:

Paper Source:  Pure White 80 lb card stock for the box base.  I find it the perfect weight for box cards.

Lawn Fawn:  12x12 Hello Sunshine Remix collection pack.  I think the "oh happy day" paper is perfect for this card.  The gray polka dot paper is also from this pack.

MFT Stamps:  Kraft, Daffodil, Orange Fizz, Summer Splash and Poppy card stock.  Sweet Celebration 6x6 paper pack for the yellow pathway to the house.

And the back.  I always put a message there, and something to carryover the design on the front so it looks finished.

MFT Stamps Sketch Challenge 501 - Thank You From Owl Of Us

Hello.  Thanks for stopping by to take a look at my card for the current MFT Sketch Challenge.

For the next few weeks I'll be working on cards for Send A Smile 4 Kids, and nationwide organization that supplies pediatric hospitals with handmade cards for the patients, their families and hospital staff.  I send my cards to a very kind woman, Anne, in Pennsylvania and she distributes them to four pediatric hospitals in the Northeast.  It's a great program.  Anne has a current need for birthday and thank you cards.  The thank you cards can be made with designs that a child might pick-out for the recipient, or adult designs as well.

For today's thank you card, I combined two MFT sets featuring owls.  The sentiment was made by cutting apart two sentiments from the Wild Woodland stamp set.  I turned the sketch to a horizontal orientation so I could use the Horizontal Skinny Stripes die.  All of the MFT supplies are listed below.

I hope you have a great day!

MFT Sketch 500 - You & Me. Always.

Hi.  I'm back with a quick and simple card for the current MFT Stamps Sketch challenge.

I used a blending brush and MFT Blue Raspberry hybrid ink to add some soft color on a die cut MFT heart.  I tried to make it an ombre effect, from the lower left to the right.  A double layer of vellum gives the die cut leaves from the Wild Greenery die set a bit of dimension.  I added a few gems for some sparkle.

Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate it!

MFT Sketch 499 & Color 146 Challenges - Happy Bear-thday

Hello, and thanks for stopping by.

Today I have a card for the current MFT Sketch and Color challenges.  The sketch was easy enough, but the color combination of Milk Chocolate, Tickled Pink, Coral Crush and Summer Splash were indeed a challenge.  I have all four colors of MFT card stock, but after two failed attempts to make a primarily die cut card with those colors, I gave up and got my Copic markers out.

I use the MFT Beary Special Birthday stamp set a lot.  The images are easy to color and make a cute focal point on a simple birthday card.

All of the MFT supplies are listed below. I hope you have a beary good day!

MFT Sketch 493 - Hello There

Hello, and thanks for stopping by to take a closer look at my card for the current MFT Sketch Challenge.

Since my last MFT Sketch Challenge card posted on May 18th, I learned that Christina Hor has suspended her Cards for Little Hearts card drives for the remainder of 2020.  I certainly understand her decision to do so.  Hopefully I'll find another group that will accept the 30 kid's winter theme cards that I have completed since January, all inspired by the weekly MFT challenges.

Since I hadn't made a card for a few weeks, I needed to make something quick and simple to get back in the grove of it all.  My card didn't turn out as I had envisioned, but I'm sure the friend I plan to send it to will be happy to receive a bit of happy mail in any case.

I used  the MFT Drifts and Hills stencil, positioned vertically on the card stock, and Distress Ink applied with a blending brush for the wavy lines/sections on the sketch.  The pretty Fresh Cut Flowers stamp is the focal point.  All of the supplies are listed below.

Have a great day!

Note Card Set

Note card sets made with the specific recipient in mind are among my favorite card making projects.  I hadn't made one for quite some time when a friend asked me to replenish her supply that I made for her a couple of years ago.

She told me to make whatever I wanted, she didn't have any special requests.  This couple is very active in their retirement community and attend lots of dinner parties, so I wanted to something with a dining theme and one more generic.

I used mostly Paper Source products for the two 4-bar size sets.  I have just a small amount of Paper Source Cement card stock left.  It's always been my favorite color for note card sets, but unfortunately it has been discontinued.  The fine handmade papers at Paper Source are beautiful for lining the envelopes, and I had just enough left of one that looks nice with the Cement card stock for this project.

Two Paper Source block stamps, a fork and thank you, were used for the dining notes.  I love how those turned out.  I made a similar set (slightly different color pallet) for my sister-in-law as that design suits her perfectly.

The feather stamp is from Papertrey Inks Feather Finery set.  I made score lines on the top and bottom of the Cement card stock for a bit of added detail.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look at my note card project.  Long live snail mail, especially for thank you notes, as who doesn't appreciate receiving a note of thanks in the mail?

MFT Sketch 489 & Color 141 Challenges - Dashing By

Hello, and thanks for stopping by to take a closer look at my card for the current sketch and color challenges at MFT Stamps.

I've made another card for Christina Hor's Cards for Little Hearts winter theme card drive.  Christina will be collecting the winter and holiday cards later this fall.  You can read about Christina's card drive here.

I used the Dashing By stamp, colored with Copic markers, for the focal point.  The bunny and bird are from the Dashing Deer set.  Dots were added to the scarf, hat and mittens with a white gel pen.

This was an easy sketch to work with, and making my card was quickly done.  All of the MFT supplies are listed below.

Have a great day!

MFT Sketch Challenge 488 - You Are A-maze-ing

I'm back with more cards for Christina Hor's Cards for Little Hearts winter theme card drive.  I've   been wanting to make some winter/holiday theme maze cards for the hospitalized kids, and this week's MFT Sketch Challenge is a good layout for them.

I made three cards inspired by the sketch, but each layout a bit different.  I used unconventional colors for the little jumping Santa because who says Santa always has to be red? :-)  I typed the sentiment on my computer since the one included in the MFT You're Amazing stamp set has a font larger than I wanted for these cards.

All of the MFT supplies are listed below.

Thanks for stopping by, and have an amazing day!

MFT Supplies:
Jingle All The Way stamp and die
English Brick Wall stencil
Circle Shaker Window die
Merry Christmas Circle Frame die
