AAA Cards CAS Game #115 Guest Designer - Inspired by Nature

Today I'm pleased to be a Guest Designer for the AAA Cards CAS Game #115 - Inspired by Nature.
You can see all the information about the challenge and the Design Team's beautiful inspiration  here.

I was invited to guest design for this challenge after my card for the AAA Cards CAS Game #111 - Use Only One Third was selected a top three pick.  You can see my March 28th blog post for that card here.

When I learned that the theme for this challenge is Inspired by Nature, I knew right away that I wanted to make a Father's Day card for my Dad.  My Dad is a man of many talents and skills, one of them being wood carving.  So  my Dad, trees and leaves provided the perfect inspiration for my card.

I love the look of the Altenew Bold Alphabet lower case letters die cut from wood grain paper.   The heavy specialty paper has a subtle wood grain feel to it as well.  A leaf stamp from the Essentials by Ellen Rustic Botanicals set provides a background for the inlaid letters.  My Misti stamping tool came in handy for precise stamping of the leaf and MFT sentiment stamp.

This is one of those special cards with special meaning, my favorite kind.  Over the past several years, my Dad has carved beautiful leaf shaped dishes for my husband and I, my two siblings, and his grandchildren as mementos of our family tree.  And at 90 years old, he's working on leaf dishes for his three great-granddaughters.  I'm looking forward to giving the card to him on Father's Day.  I know he will love it, he's always so supportive of my card making projects.

Thanks so much for stopping by to take a look at my card and read about the inspiration behind it, I appreciate it.  And many thanks to the AAA Cards Team for the opportunity to be a Guest Designer.  I've enjoyed the experience!

    1. Thank you Jenna. I think most of us struggle with masculine cards, so I was happy to come up with a design I liked!

  6. Hi Nancy! The moment is saw the photo i said to myself "What a pretty and elegant card and what gorgeous wood carving on the bowl". But after i read your post i have to say - like father , like daughter. Both of you are so amazingly talented. Your father's day card is just so lovely mimicking the texture of wood. This feels so close to nature. What a great take on the theme. Thanks for guest designing with us at AAACards. Happy crafting. Hugs - Bharati.
