MFT Sketch 425 & Color 111 Challenges - Hey, You!

Today I have a card for both the  MFT Stamps Sketch 425 and Color 111 Challenges.

When I saw the list of colors for the color challenge, the MFT Good Fortune and Chinese Take Out sets immediately came to mind, and the latest sketch challenge was a good layout for the card I had envisioned.

The challenge colors are Sweet Tooth, Gravel Gray, Red Hot and Electric Red.  I used MFT Cherry Crisp for the Electric Red, and Memento Lady Bug ink for the slightly lighter Red Hot.

Thin strips of foam tape were used around the outer edges of the underside of the red piece of card stock.  Doing this  makes it much easier to slide the fortunes in and out of the cookies.  I wish I had made the red piece of card stock a bit larger, but overall I'm happy with the way the card turned out.

I wanted to make an encouragement or thinking of you type of card for Christina Hor's Cards for Little Hearts, so I selected the fortunes and sentiment with that in mind.  You can read about Christina's card drive here.

Thanks very much for stopping by.  As always, your comments are appreciated!

IG Crafty Crew February Hard Challenge - Wiper Card

Hello, and thanks for stopping by.

I hadn't participated in an IG Crafty Crew challenge for several months, but when I saw the February Hard Challege - Make a Wiper Card, I decided to jump in.

The MFT Birdbath dies and my brand new Picket Fences ink blending brushes were used for the first time.   I've always struggled with ink blending, but those brushes do make it much easier.  There are lots of wiper card tutorials and videos online, and I found the instructions easy to follow as I set out to make my first wiper card.  I made my card on a 4.25" x 8.5" base scored at 1.5" and 3".

The birdbath was die cut using MFT Cement Gray card stock three times and stacked for a bit of dimension.  I used Copic marker C5 to add some shading.  I trimmed the bottom of the picket fence to make it shorter so that the entire pedestal wouldn't be covered.

I'll donate this card to Christina Hor's Cards for Little Hearts card drive.  You can read about her great program here.

All of the supplies are listed below, most are MFT Stamps.  Have a tweet day!

The Flower Challenge #29 "Use Your Latest Stamps or DIes" - Happy Birthday

Hello.  I'm back today with a card for the current Flower Challenge.  This time we are asked to use our latest stamps or dies.

Looking back at my online orders, I found that the Essentials by Ellen Mondo Sakura was my last floral stamp or die purchase and that was in May 2018.  I love all of Julie Ebersole's mondo floral designs.  They are big and bold with endless layout orientation and design options.

I have a few friends and relatives with springtime birthdays, so I decided to get a jump on those cards and color soft pink and yellow Sakuras with Zig markers.

First a 5-inch square of mixed media paper was die cut.   The image was then stamped with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder.  I used four Zig markers and a water brush to color the flowers.  Once I decided which orientation I wanted the image to be, I stamped and heat embossed the sentiments.  The large center flower was highlighted by die cutting a 3-inch square of it and popping it up with foam tape.  A square of blue vellum provides a soft frame, and a few Rock Candy Confetti embellishments by Trinity Stamps finished my card.

Thanks so much for stopping by to take a closer look at my card.  Have a great day!

MFT Sketch 423 & Color Challenge 110 - Congratulations You Two

It's time for another MFT Sketch Challenge.  I like these challenges as a way to add to my stash, make cards to donate, and stretch my card making creativity too.  My plan was to make a new baby girl card with the Color Challenge prompts, but when I saw the new sketch I decided to combine the two.

I used the Bundle of Baby Clothes set to die cut the sweet clothes out of Smooth White, the challenge colors of Tickled Pink and Wild Wisteria and the coordinating Itsy Bitsy Polka Dots patterned papers as well.  Gray Grout was used for the base, and for the Steel Gray I used gray ink for the sentiment.  The cute little hangers were die cut out of silver card stock from my stash.  The sentiment stamp is from the MFT Splendid Swans set.  All of the MFT supplies are listed below.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look at my card, and have a great day!

AAA Cards - CAS Game #133 - One Layer with Optional Twist: Love

It's time for another AAA Cards CAS game, and this time it's one layer cards with an optional 'love' theme.

I rarely make one layer cards, or masculine cards, so I decided to combine those two elements to challenge myself even further.

Although it looks like a very simple card, for me it wasn't easy.  But after a few attempts I came up with a layout that I liked.  In order leave it alone and resist adding more to it, I shifted my attention and made a matching liner for the envelope.  Once I had the envelope done, I was satisfied with the end result.

All of the supplies are listed below.  Thanks very much for stopping by to take a closer look at my card.

MFT Stamps Grout Gray card stock
Papertrey Ink Feather Finery stamps

MFT Sketch 422 & Birthday Project - Happy Birthday

Today I have a birthday card for the current MFT Sketch challenge.  It will also be entered in the current MFT Birthday Project challenge which is about gifts.

My MFT Birthday Bears stamp and die set gets a lot of use for birthday cards.  The images are cute and simple to color.

For the upper and lower stripes on the sketch, I used the MFT Free with $60 HAPPY BIRTHDAY die to inset a rainbow of letters.  Three images, including a gift for the Birthday Project challenge, were colored with Copic markers and popped up with foam tape on a wide strip of MFT patterned paper. Some embellishing accents on the three images that are hard to photograph but add a nice finishing touch, and my card is done.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day.
