The Flower Challenge #28, Pink & Gray - Happy Birthday

Today I have a card for The Flower Challenge.  It's my first time participating.  I was inspired to make a card and enter the challenge after I saw Aileen Ryan's pretty pink and gray flower card, along with a reminder about this month's challenge, on her Instagram post.

The Mondo Hydrangea stamp by Julie Ebersole is an Essentials by Ellen favorite of mine.  I stamped and heat embossed the image with silver embossing powder and colored it with just two Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers, Sugared Almond Pink and Light Gray, and a water pen.

For the background I used the Papertrey Ink Horizontal Stripes cover-up die.  I cut one with white card stock and trimmed it to a square shape.  A second one was cut with gray card stock for the stripes.  That piece was adhered to a die cut 5-inch square of gray card stock.

The colored and die cut hydrangea was adhered to the background piece with foam tape.  For added dimension I adhered three more flowers and a gray leaf.  The Happy Birthday sentiment is also popped up with foam tape.  A few Pretty Pink Posh sequins and white Nuvo Drops in the centers of the flowers, and my card is done.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look at my card, and have a great day.

  1. This is lovely! I like the subtle colors and the contrast between the geometric background and the organic, flowy focal image.
