Instagram Crafty Crew November 2017 Hard Challenge

For the Instagram Crafty Crew November Hard Challenge, we were asked to make a Magic Slider Card.  I used a tutorial by Sandiebella, Sandie Shores, found on the Stampingbella website.  This was my first attempt at making one.

The tutorial was a big help, but next time I'll make some adjustments.  I accidentally made the pull-up tag a little too big, I think it shouldn't be so noticeable.  Also next time I'll adjust all the measurements so the card will fit on one of my standard card bases with a matching envelope.  Sandie's instructions were written for a slightly different card size.  But again, her tutorial was a big help and the instructions were easy to follow.

I used Copic markers to color the Tiny Townie, Pamela The Poinsettia stamp by Stampingbella.  Such a cute image!

Thanks for taking a look!

Bridal Shower Card

I made a bridal shower card for one of our nieces inspired by the invitation to the shower.  This was a reach for me as I usually, at least I try to, color very precisely.

I used an opaque "snow" marker to scribble color the gown so it would look similar to the gown on the pretty invitation. This was also my first attempt to color with Prismacolor pencils on black card stock.  I definitely need more practice.

Supplies:

The Ton
Haute Wedding Dress stamps (gown & "Best")
Sending Peonies stamp
 Double Stitched Large Square die
MFT Stamps Hand Lettered Holidays stamp ("Wishes")
Recollections Opaque Marker, Snow
Prismacolor Pencils 938, 1005, 902, 903, 905, 1023
Tsukneko Versa Magic Chalk Ink, Cloud White

MFT Color Challenge 81 and Sketch Challenge 359 - Amazing Birthday

I made an interactive birthday card for my stash inspired by the current Color and Sketch Challenges at MFT Stamps.

The square is tilted for some fun interest, and I made a small corner pop-up for the sentiment instead running a thin sentiment strip across the card per the sketch.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Another MFT Sketch Challenge 358 Card - Christmas Mermaid

I had so much fun creating a mermaid Christmas card for the November Essentials by Ellen Mix It Up Challenge with MFT Stamps, so I decided to make one for the MFT Sketch Challenge 358 too.

Every holiday season I find at least one everyday stamp set and use it with the holiday theme.  It really helps stretch my stash of stamps.

Here's my second  mermaid Christmas card  Thanks for taking a look!

MFT Supplies:

Jingle All the Way tree stamp and die

MFT Sketch Challenge 358 - Holiday Bears

I have to get my box of donation cards in the mail to Send A Smile 4 Kids by the end of the week, so I'm trying to get just a few more done.  This week's Sketch Challenge at MFT Stamps is the inspiration behind this one.  A piece of patterned paper for the background, the sweet MFT Birthday Bears set lightly shaded with Copic markers, and a few snowflakes made a quick  holiday card easy and fun to do.

Essentials by Ellen November 2017 Mix It Up Challenge with My Favorite Things

I had the idea in mind to use the cute My Favorite Things Mermazing stamp set in a Christmas card scene, so this month's Essentials by Ellen Mix It Up Challenge with MFT was the perfect time to give it a go.  I'm also entering this in the Send A Smile 4 Kids current challenge, Holiday Cards for Kids.  Most of my kid's Christmas cards are donated to SAS4Kids, an organization that supports children's hospitals around the country with handmade cards for pediatric patients.

The background is stamped with the EBE starburst stamp from the Merry and Bright set by Julie Ebersole.  I wanted a light background to minimize the white edges on the die cut pieces, so I stamped it with MFT Sno Cone dye ink.  The little Christmas tree and Merry Christmas sentiment are from the EBE Bear Ware 2 set, again by Julie Ebersole.  I stamped and fussy cut the two Christmas hats from the MFT Jingle All the Way set.  All of the other pieces are from the MFT Mermazing set.

The card is embellished with clear Wink of Stella, a clear glitter pen and Star Dust Stickles.  A bit of Glossy Accents on the turtle's shell gives him a nice sheen.

MFT Stamps Sketch Challenge 357 - Elf Bookmark

I used the Tall Tag Duo die to make a removable tag on this week's Sketch Challenge card.  The tag slides into a popped-up channel that holds it snugly.  I'll add this card to my stash of Christmas cards to donate to Send A Smile 4 Kids, a volunteer organization that distributes handmade cards to patients in several Children's Hospitals around the country.  The recipient can use it as a gift tag, an ornament, a bookmark or just a little something to decorate their hospital room.

Another Essentials by Ellen October 2017 Pin Sights Challenge Card

I actually made three cards inspired by this month's EH Pin Sights challenge inspiration board, something I've never done before.

I've always admired cards with one tiny image and lots of white space, so I decided to make one for this challenge.  I was definitely out of my comfort zone and had to resist adding to the card as I thought it was just too plain.  But it has grown on me, so I decided to add it here and to the challenge link-up.

Again, I was inspired by the picture of the pink Christmas tree on the inspiration board.  It reminds me of a little pink tree my Mom used to put on our bathroom counter every holiday season.  It first appeared in the early 1960's, and I think in the late 1970's my mom took a chisel to that pink tile one day and soon after had it replaced.  She always had a remodel project going on in our family home.

MFT Stamps Color Challenge #80 - Hope Your Day Rocks

I made a birthday card for my stash for MFT Color Challenge #80. Playing with Spring-like colors, pink, blue, green and yellow, was a nice diversion from all the traditional Christmas cards I've been making for the past several weeks.

I hope your day rocks too!  Thanks for taking a look.

Essentials by Ellen October 2017 Pin Sights Challenge

The pink Christmas tree on this month's EH Pin Sights Inspiration Board immediately caught my eye.  My Mom had a little pink 12" tall artificial Christmas tree that she'd put on our pink and gray tile bathroom counter every Christmas season.  Pink bathroom tile was very popular in the 1960's.

I kept my card very CAS using the Geo Tree dies by Julie Ebersole.  To make the teal ornaments, I used an extra-small hole punch and covered each paper dot with a tall dollop of Glossy Accents so they look like little ornaments.  The top panel and the tree are popped-up with foam tape for dimension.

MFT Stamps Sketch Challenge 356 - Ho Ho Ho

I made another Christmas card for this week's MFT Sketch Challenge.

I used the H from the HUGS die, and the O from the LOVE die to make HO HO HO.  Both dies were free gifts with a $60 or more MFT purchase, so thank you MFT Stamps for those!

The little stack of gifts is from the Santa's Elves set and the sentiment stamp is from the Toasty Greetings set.  A quick and simple card ready to donate to Send A Smile 4 Kids!

Essentials by Ellen October 2017 Mix It Up Challenge with Altenew

Christmas in New York City is so beautiful with the tree in Rockefeller Center, festive store window displays and lots of lights all around the city.  I used the skyline of Manhattan stamp from Altenew's Sketchy Cities America set and the Christmas lights and sentiment stamp from the Essentials by Ellen Merry & Bright set to make another Christmas card to donate.

I kept it quick and simple by using black card stock, gold embossing powder and some gold star sequins.  I colored the lights with Copics, fussy cut them to eliminate a white boarder, and applied two coats of Glossy Accents make them shine.

I used tiny bits of black fun foam to pop-up the lights.

Supplies used:
EBE Merry & Bright stamps
Altenew Sketchy Cities America stamp
Ranger Princess Gold embossing powder
Copic Markers G06, G19, R29 and R59
Glossy Accents
Celebrations sequins

MFT Stamps Sketch Challenge 352 - Merry Elf

Another MFT Sketch Challenge and another Christmas card to donate to Send A Smile 4 Kids.  I think these little elves are so cute!

I stacked three layers of the die cut elf for some dimension and embellished the elf with Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents.   I always make some super simple cards to donate SAS4K so they can be given to very young children in the hospitals SAS4K's supports without concern of small removable pieces and choking hazards.

Essentials by Ellen September 2017 Pin Sights Challenge

The inspiration board for the Essentials by Ellen Pin Sights challenge this month is so beautiful with several rich, jewel tone images.  That little bird is so pretty!  My godson recently popped the question to his sweet girlfriend, so I made an engagement card for them.

The EBE Mondo Hydrangea stamp set is one of my favorites.  It's so pretty, and I find it a quick image to color.

I  colored the image with ZIG Real Color Clean Brush markers.  After I cut it with the largest MFT Stamps Pierced Circle Frame die, I spun the frame around until I liked the opposing position of the colored boarder toward the bottom.  Some popped up single cut blooms add dimension.  I didn't want the card to be too feminine, so I used the graphic black and white paper and some paint splatters instead of sequins.  As usual, my card didn't turn out anything like what I had first intended, but I'm pleased with it in the end.

MFT Stamps Sketch Challenge 351 - Dashing By

When I saw this week's Sketch Challenge, I knew exactly what I was going to make.  I purchased the Hit the Slopes dies and Slider Elements quite some time ago and finally used them today to make my first slider card.    The cute little girl from the Dashing By stamp and die set sledding down a hill fit the sketch perfectly.

I drew a pattern on her cap and used a clear glitter pen to add some sparkle.
Wink of Stella on the snow and trees finish off the card.

MFT Stamps 2017 Card Design Superstar Innovation Master

There are so many amazing and elaborate cards entered in the Innovation Master challenge!  I made a six-panel accordion fold birthday card.  It's about 4-inches square, and rather than an envelope, the slip-over band with the recipient's name on it keeps the card neatly folded-up accordion style.   My card is pretty simple, and it was my first attempt at making one like it.  I made it without a tutorial or inspiration piece, so for me it was innovative, but I'm sure many similar ones have been made before!  I'm pleased with the result and I'm sure little Emma will love it.

I used the Oval Sentiment Label Strip die to make the slip-over band.  I simply cut a strip of card stock to size, scored the ends to allow for a snug fit, and adhered the strip to each end of the die cut oval label piece.  A second Oval Sentiment Label Strip was die cut using the cute polka dot paper.  I trimmed it so the band would be all white from each side on the front and across the back.

Close-up of the first three panels.

The second three panels.
I left a small white space on the last panel for a place to sign the card.

IG Crafty Crew September 2017 Hard Challenge

Here's the card I posted on Instagram for the IG Crafty Crew September Hard Challenge hosted by Jan, @handcrafthobby.  Our challenge was to make an "interactive card" so I made a fold-up spin around card.  A tutorial on the Stampingbella website by Sandie was a huge help.  This was my first time making a card like this.  It was a fun project and I definitely finished with a few good lessons learned for the next time, the most notable one being that the base card stock should be 80 lb or less.  I used 100lb and I think it's a bit too bulky for this type of fold-up.
